Your Freshman Year deserves better...
Which is why we've created a proposal to make it happen, both in and out of Stuy!

1. Helping Students with the Device Ban and Homework

Many freshmen rely heavily on digital assignments, but the device ban has made it difficult to finish work during the school day. To prevent students from having overwhelming workloads at home—especially those with long commutes or packed extracurricular schedules—we propose:

- Supervised Device-Friendly Rooms: During free periods, students could use designated classrooms staffed by teachers willing to cover the room. This allows freshmen to complete digital homework responsibly, without restoring full device freedom.- Increasing School Computer Access: Through fundraisers such as bake sales and alumni donation drives, we plan to add more computers on every floor. The library fills up extremely quickly, leaving many students with no place to work; more computer stations will make homework access fair and consistent.- Encouraging More Paper-Based Assignments: We will work with teachers to provide paper copies of homework or textbook problems whenever possible. Reducing reliance on digital platforms ensures students can stay productive even without devices.

2. Enhancing the School Environment

- Early Arrivals: Many students arrive long before the official start time due to transit schedules. We hope to push for adjustments or supportive systems that allow students to use that extra time productively and comfortably.- Instrumental Improvements: We aim to secure better-maintained instruments so band/orchestral students can practice and perform at their best.

3. Freshman Support Systems

Yeah, yeah, these are all well and good, but how are we going to help YOU?

- The Freshman Hotline: A student-run help line where freshmen can ask questions anonymously. It offers a low-pressure alternative to approaching faculty and helps create a more welcoming environment.

4. Events

Obviously, this is what you're waiting for. The fun part.

- Club Food Festival: A fun, ticket-based sampling event where clubs can share foods representing them, gain members, raise funds, and build community.- Monthly Gaming Tournaments: Featuring any game, with prizes and optional fundraising entry fees.- “Looking Fresh” Newsletter: Monthly updates with deadlines, events, art competitions, reminders, and freshman-focused opportunities.

5. Extracurricular Accesibility Reform

- Epsilon: You can join clubs at any time, really. But not many people know that - which is why we will work with Epsilon Maintence to prioritize clubs that are always open to new applicants, as well as ensuring that clubs that don't last all year are known.

6. Additional Improvements

- A cleaner, more organized lost-and-found system, sorted by item type instead of one overcrowded bin.- Where the heck are all the lost and founds, anyway? We’ll make sure that all students know where they are, so they can actually find what they lost.- Making sure the escalators break down less (well, mostly 7-9).- Distribute simple cardboard locker separators, so you don't have to worry about eventually mixing stuff up with your "locker buddy"
